In the novel Coraline by Neil Gaiman, Coraline falls into a daunting journey through another world that, in the end, causes her to face her fears, grow as a person, and become more appreciative, even though she was ungrateful before.

Brief Overview

Coraline is a novel written by a British author named Neil Gaiman. This story portrays themes within the dark fantasy genre, walking the line between a children's book and an adult book. It follows a young girl named Coraline who goes on an adventure in an alternate universe that threatens her family and her life. With some help from a cat and her imagination, she goes on a quest to restore peace and defeat the evils she faces.

About Gaiman

Gaiman is an English writer who was born in England in 1960 and moved to the United States in 1992. He begun as a journalist, writing for magazines and newspapers, and later wrote a successful comic called "The Sandman". His stories are usually fictional and humorous. He has been granted many awards like the Newberry Medal and a Hugo Award. He originally wrote "Coraline" for his daughter, but went on a hiatus for awhile. He resumed writing when his daughters were a little older, hoping to finish the book before they were too old to read it. Although, the book is arguably for adults as well as children.
